Brake light switch questions

I pulled a set of pedals out of a v-6 camaro for an install into a Buick Roadmaster wagon.

It had several switches on it and I am attempting to identify which is which. What appears to be the brake light switch has two sets of connectors. The one I got did not have the harness end of the "upper" connector. So it has just the 3 wire harness going to it. I am of the understanding that the 3 wire plug is for the brake lights. What is the two wire plug for?

What year car were the pedals out of? Was it from an auto or a manual?

I am sorry I overlooked that. It was a manual v-6 camaro (T-5 if I am not mistaken).

I'll check the 94 shop manual for the wiring diagram. There should be a switch that releases the cruise control.

Re: Brake light switch questions

You should have 2 switches on the brake pedal support assembly. No matter whether it's a manual or an automatic, a V8 or a V6, the upper switch appears to have a 2-wire connector, and that is the cruise control release switch.

The lower switch depends on whether it's a manual or automatic. The switch is the same on both auto and manual trans cars.

If it's a manual trans car, the switch only has a single 3-wire connector, attached in the forward of the two connector positions. That is the stoplamp portion of the switch. If it's an auto trans car, the front 3-wire connector is the same as the manual trans cars, but there is a second connector in the rear position, with a 2-wire connector. That is for the auto trans torque converter release.

Re: Brake light switch questions

That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!! It had a position on the brake light switch without a plug. I wondered what that was for. That saves me buying the plug.

This is going into a 94 Roadmaster wagon so attempting to figure it all out as I go.
