brake caliper nut size?

So I'm replacing my rotors and pads (and putting in a line lock too, but that's beside the point). But I don't seem to have the right socket to get the caliper retaining bolts off. There are two hex bolts; a howto site for thirdgens said it was a 10mm hex bolt, but that was too big. So I bummed a ride to the parts store and got a 7mm and 8mm hex socket, but those were too small. What is the proper size? I'm guessing 3/8" since that's between 8mm and 10mm...

Weird...I wish GM would just pick one thing and run with it.
