bilsteen strut with drag springs
bilsteen strut with drag springs
basically i am taking off my lowering springs, they really are bad for the 60 foot and now that the car is solely a race car i don't know why i have them on. i already have bilsteen HD struts on them. i want to do the eibach drag springs in the rear, and the hal springs in the front. would those bilsteen struts be bad for launching? would hal qa1's be that much more superior, or would the bilsteens give me some alright performance in a drag only car.
Re: bilsteen strut with drag springs
You can't use a QA1/HAL drag spring an anything other than a QA1/HAL shock (or one with a similar diameter to the QA1 lower spring seat). The HAL springs are a smaller diameter on the bottom than the stock springs (or aftermarket Eibach, etc).
I doubt you would get good results with the Bilstein shocks (they are not struts - minor point). You want the front end to pop up on launch and help transfer weight to the rear wheels. That's why you use a shock like thge QA1 that can be set to minimum rebound resistance. There is no "damping" when the front end tries to come up. The Bilstein will probably offer substantial resistance to the front end rising.
The other advantage of the HAL's is the ability to adjust the front end height.
