Ball joint questions

I am going to install new ball joint this weekend. My question is they are on there way, and i need to know if they are the pressed in kind so if I need to take them to a machinest.

Also, I have the qa1 shocks up front that I am installing and have the springs too, can just any suspension shop compress them and set them on the plates. I heard from one shop that is took awhile and they need to compress the spring very slowly for the qa1 coilovers I have.

Thanks Mark Tisdale

Re: Ball joint questions

Nah, man. You can do it all yourself pretty easily. You'll need a balljoint press (just borrow for free from Autozone). Use it to press out the old BJ and carefully press in the new one. Not much more to it than that.

As for the QA1's, you don't even need to have them compressed. Since the spring height is adjustable, you can just turn the adjuster down so far that the spring doesn't need to be compressed to get it installed. Install the shock with the spring on it like that, then start turning it up till you get the ride height that you like.
