I need to replace the struts on my 94 base Camaro, obviously macpherson, but I'm looking for the best brand.

Anybody know who would work best?

Your 94 Camaro does not have MacPherson struts. It has an unequal A-arm front suspension, with a coil-over shock, and plain old "shocks" in the back. There are limited selections available for the front coil-overs. How do you plan to use the car - daily driver, auto-X/road race, 1.4-mile????

Really? Crazy mechanic told me it needed macphersons. But I'm using it as a daily driver.

As Fred said, its just a shock... KYB, Gabriel, Monroe makes dependable shocks for daily driving...

Most can be found at your local parts store...

Go somewhere else. He doesn't know anything about the suspension.

A lot of shops don't know about the changeover from the 3rd Gen to the 4th Gen, or when exactly it took place. When I needed a wheel alignment, shop after shop told me they couldn't do my "strut" front suspension. I chose the shop that knew the difference, and was willing to use my specs, not the factory specs.

Here's what the stock front shocks look like orange deCarbon in the back, new QA1 assembled in the front):

Shoebox has a diagram of the front suspension:

What is your budget? There are some decent Bilsteins, but you need to get the "revalved" versions sold by Strano:

For stock springs, revalved shocks are not necessary. Revalving is done to work with the higher spring rates of aftermarket springs. Like n2ceptor said, shocks can be bought at any auto parts store. That being said, Bilstein makes a high quality shock if you want to spend a bit more. But finding a shop with some 4th gen experience isn't a bad idea because on an older 4th gen you'll have the top shock mount all rusted up and it can be a bit of a fight.
