I have an 87 IROC with a new crate motor pushing 400HP. Does anyone know of a direct bolt on replacement for brakes and rotors? My cars current brakes are just not sufficient to me. Tons of brake fade. My car came out of the factory as an 87 IROC L98 with 4-wheel disc.
I've recently learned about a company called Wilwood. I have not called them yet. Just wondering if anyone on this site has a 3RD gen with upgraded brakes.

 

do u have the 1le brakes up front, i.e. dual piston caliper?

 

I don't know. I doubt it. I'm going to the shop Thursday to check on the new crate install progress and I'll see if it is dual piston.

The only third gens that came with the dual piston front brakes are the 1LE cars and the 89 turbo trans am. Most likely you have 10" front discs with single piston calipers. Your rear brakes can use some improvement also...look around there are links on ways to make your rear brakes better. The 89 -up cars have better rear brakes.

but i thought the only 87's with rear discs were 1le, i'm not sure which is why i asked

 

IROC's have always had the availability of rear disc. My brother has his 85 IROC my dad bought him new with the rear disc option and perf. gear ratio with posi rear. All 350's came with rear disc like mine.
