Smile ATI Damper

Any good deals on an ATI damper for an LT1? I need one pretty soon so I can have my rotating assembly balanced.

Re: ATI Damper

All stock LT1/4 engines are balanced externally on the flywheel/flexplate side. Most built engine are balanced internally. All the LTx engines are balanced internally on the balancer side. Therefore, they use a dampner and not a balancer.

Re: ATI Damper

Yeah I understand that but why would you need it for balancing?

I meant to say you don't need it for balancing.

Re: ATI Damper

The builder said he wanted the damper and the flywheel before he sent everything to be balanced.

Re: ATI Damper

I will be buying one soon (p/n 917271) for my 396. Best deal I've been able to find is in the $379 + tax & shipping. A group purchase would be nice.
