who locally can scan codes for free?

i removed my EGR and now i'm throwing a light... i want to just make sure the SES is for the EGR and not for something else. the car has never idled so smooth so i assume EGR.

autozone is supose to but i've heard they can't scan 1995 cars because of the OBD2 connection and the OBD1 computer. i'm trying to find the local autozone phone number but their website is down. who else scans? does discount or central auto parts scan for free?

edit:

just called autozone and they said they only scan 1996+ OBD2 cars... and so they can't scan my car.
