Thinking of moving to FLA...
Sarasota's a good place if you don't mind old people. I grew up in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and it's just toooooooo damn crowded. Good f-body club there though, SFFBA.net . Tampa/St. Pete isn't as bad, and there's a pretty decent job market there. Puts you close to my home club BADRAP as well. Various clubs around the state meet up and rent tracks regularly, so we're all pretty tight-nit.
And Florida seems to have a decently high pay rate. Hell, I work at Sunglass Hut while I finish college and I'm making $8.
Good luck. Hope you don't mind humidity!!!

I'm originally from Boston, MA. so humidity isn't too bad. And crowded doesn't bother me that much either.
Who do you guys recommend for car insurance there? I want to start looking into insurance qoutes. Thanks.

I don't care to carry my guns on me, just to be able to have them in my house, and take them to the target Range. Here in OK, you don't have to have any kind of permit to do that.
++++++++++++++++++++++++
You do not need a permit to buy, sell, or own a firearm in the state of Florida. You can get a CCW (Concealed Carry Weapons) permit if your 21 or older and you dont have a felony record or other violations that would prohibit you from owning or carrying a firearm.

So since I already own guns, I can have them in my house without a problem? And how about as far as if I want to go to the target range? Will I be able to put them in the trunk of my car, and take them there? I want to avoid going through the hassle of getting my license to carry, because it takes months, and I don't want to leave my guns behind here in OK.
PS: Hope to meet some of you guys. My mom is goign there this week to check out areas of FLA, so we'll be moving there within the next couple of months if we do fully decide to move there.

the cheapest/best place i have found to get insurance
www.esurance.com
they have no offices, so they have little overhead.....that means their rates are usually lower than anyone else.
i called around to every place in the phonebook.......and the cheapest rate i could find was $350 a month from some cheap ghetto place........allstate, statefarm, geico, progressive......they all wanted like $400......................esurance.com was $300 a month, and its automatically deducted from my checking account so i never forget to pay the bill.

My insurance is about $900/year with full coverage through Allstate, but that's on my truck. As for guns, I have a few, I just keep the lock on and keep em in the case when I travel, in case I do run into a ***** cop. I usually just toss it on the passenger seat though. There's no permit needed to own or buy.

orlando if you plan on driving around the state a lot (centrally located)

your guns can be kept loaded or unloaded in the house or the car. you can keep your pistol loaded in the glove compartment, or on the front seat if its in a zippered case or gun case with a lid on it.
Long guns can be put in a zippered case or hard case. just put them in your back seat , they dont have to be in the trunk if your going to the range.
Along with the CCW law passed in 1987 florida passed a law making all firearm laws uniform thoughout the state. that means you can travel from county to county in florida with your guns in your car an not be hasseled by the cops.
p.s. while your living here.......please dont vote for any "reasonable gun control laws" ....... thats why the people in places like NY, New Jersey, California, etc.... are having their gun rights taken away ....

Tampa:
Pros
- the beach and metro. area are really close to each other
- there's not nearly as many tourists as in Orlando
- GREAT nightlife (Ybor City)
- Buccaneers football
- Busch Gardens theme park
- good places to fish
- plenty of nice areas in the surrounding area to live
Cons
- can be VERY ghetto in some areas
- not as clean as Orlando
Orlando:
Pros
- great downtown area
- decent nightlife
- very clean and planned out city
- people are cool
- plenty of jobs
- less populated than Tampa and larger area
- low cost of living
Cons
- constant construction everywhere
- rush hour traffic on I-4
Moving to FL, will probably the best decision you could ever make. It is such a GREAT place to be...I live in FL, but im in Boston now just for a couple months to make some extra money so I can go back to FL, and get my own house! The pay down there sucks, unless you work for a big company...Traffic isnt bad, except for rsh hour on I-4, and the best places to probably live in Orlando would be either metrowest, Waterford Lakes (They are a lil expensive) and Winter park... When I get back To FL, I will be looking for a house in the UCF area, or possibly winter park, or MAYBE metro west. They are all nice areas... Cops down there arent really all that bad... Umm their is a lot to do...a lot of movie theatres, and universal, Pleasure Island, and a lot of clubs if you like to dance!
That's about all I can say...Im a Floridian, so I know pretty much everything about it. If you have any questions shoot me an email or Private message. cz28grl83@aol.com

you guys think you could make like $8/hr. plus full time there? That is what I need to live off. If I can make more than that, then that would be great. Otherwise, I prob. won't be able to make it.
You can make more money than that...By the way this is camarobabe02...My brother works for Mayors selling jewelry, and his gross yearly Income is $62,000,and that is strictly commision...He lives great, and is now married and looking to buy a new car and have a baby. He has been there just over a year, and he is dong great. Then again you can work at a hotel as a front desk clerk and make $7.50 an hr, unless you go to a high class hotel, and they would probably pay you $9.50-$10.00 an hr. Depends what you like to do, and what your good at, and if you have a degree in something.
and they dont BUTCHER you for taxes, which I love. The only bad thing about taxes in Orange county it is 6.5%, which isnt toooo bad, but ya know!!!! Let me know if you need any more information. If you are worried about not getting a high paid job, I can name a few places where you can make decent money. More than $8.00 an hour!

Please, by all means name away. I'm hoping to be out there by September. I don't have any degrees. I like working on cars, and can do just a lot, just no prior working experience, other than little on the side jobs that I have done for friends, co-workers, etc. I like driving trucks, in-state, just not out of state. I like operating heavy equipment, backhoes, bobcats, and excavators. Did it for 2 years, just don't have a license for it. I thought about car sales. I dunno for starters, I just need somewhere to get some money coming in. From there, I will look to get into a career job. I would LOVE to work for a cable co. out there as a customer service rep. what cable tv/internet co's do you guys have out there? Write back, thanks.
