Question about polaris for those at UCF
Question about polaris for those at UCF
I'm trying to get into Physics I, but from what I can tell all of the labs are full. I may not be doing it right though. I'll go into Polaris and add class PHY2053. When I do that, I'll hit the down arrow to select related classes. It lists all the labs but it doesn't show what time it starts or how many seats are open. Does anyone know how I can view the labs to see the time and open seats? Thanks.
Re: Question about polaris for those at UCF
When you search for PHY 2053 and you see the list of classes, look for ones marked L, OR ones that aren't LECTURE they are LAB in the Comp section. There are probably only a few actual physics classes, I bet the rest are labs in that list you are looking at.
Here, I did a search, EX:

Re: Question about polaris for those at UCF
You also might have to cross reference the classes as well in order to properly register. When I took a few business classes that had lectures and labs, you had to do something special while on POLARIS in order to register for them. I just can't remember what it was.
Re: Question about polaris for those at UCF
you have just discovered why UCF is called YOU CAN'T FINISH
i have run into this problem before ... for the requirement, they require you take physics plus the lab, however they only allow lab spots for 1/4 of the students who take the class. they allow ONE ... yes, one singular student, to override PER LAB PERIOD.
so basically, each year 75% of the students are REQUIRED to take the lab but fail to get enrolled, and then they are now trying for NEXT semister's labs ... of which are only about 25% of the total students taking physics class THAT SEMISTER ... so now you have 75% of this semister and 75% of last semister's students trying for the same lab spots.
basically, its nearly impossible to get the credits you need.
good luck, i'm still fighting to get into a physics2 lab even though i took physics2 a few semisters ago.

Re: Question about polaris for those at UCF
Yeah, this really sucks. As it is I am only registered for 2 classes. Discrete math and c programming. I cannot take any other classes except physics and creative writing because these are both pre-req's for all of my other classes. However, both of these are full. I emailed the phyics guy in charge of lab over rides so hopefully he can get me in. I might have to look into a different college if it's this hard to get into classes. Thanks for the replies though.
