So... How does your sister Sheila like her new '01 Pewter SS with the chrome wheels and t-tops? Heck of a graduation present to herself. Beautiful car.

WHOA!!!!
I pop my head in here every few days or so and this time was surprised to see my name in a topic. Then, to read this I'm even MORE SHOCKED!
I haven't talked to anybody on this board about my little sis getting an SS!!! Now you are scaring me!
Hmmm... she mentioned to me that somehow somebody in the dealership recognized her last name and connected her and I and somehow that was connected to a red Trans Am that was up there. My sister's boyfriend also said something along the lines of "That girl with the Trans Am (that's what he called it
) would be right up your alley because she had like numbers on her car like she just got done racing!" I was like "You've got to be kidding me! Did you get a name or something?" then he was like... "Nope." I was like "Well, crap, that figures!" LOL! That HAD to have been you, eh?And, how does she like it??? Well, I have NEVER seen anybody so excited about getting a car before! She is still grinning ear to ear and was so excited she couldn't eat for two days after buying the car. LOL! She's a crazy little girl. I have already tried to fanagle her SS floor mats out of her for my car by telling her I'd get her some custom floor mats with her name on them... but she is too smart for that. She thought that was a great idea but wasn't too keen on giving me her "old" ones. haahahaha Oh well

So, I'm assuming you were the one with the red "Trans Am" with numbers on it, right?

Yep, that was me!
It went down like this... I used to work at that dealership and have a friend in sales on the used car side that called me up and asked me to come by that night. He said he had an SS he needed my help selling and wanted me to look at it. He didn't know about your sister being serious about the deal, so he wanted to see if I could help him get it off the lot in case she didn't show up being that she hadn't even seen the car. I agreed to stop by after work. I still had the numbers on the car from that Wednesday at the track. The vultures hovered around it the entire time I was there. I kept having to repeat, "No thanks, I don't want to trade her in." Sheesh.
I get up there and look at this gorgeous pewter SS. I walk from tail to nose, and see a sign on the dash that says "SOLD- Franker". I was like...
No way! So I asked my friend, and he said it was a girl that was talking of buying the car. I thought, hmm... Well, maybe it's his wife or girlfriend or sister or something, who knows. Sure enough, sister it was.
I hung out awhile to talk to my friend and catch up on old times, and hoped to still be there by the time your sister got there to meet her but had to run. I hated to, I really wanted to meet her and talk to her about her new car but it just wasn't in the cards.
I's funny how life goes sometimes. Maybe we'll eventually run into one another at the track. Tell your sister to enjoy the car. She got a great deal. Trust me, the dealership didn't make anything off that SS!

Yeah, maybe I'll see you up at Gainesville one of these days. I make it up there to race about once in a blue moon but I do get up there every-so-often
I'm actually quite surprised my sister got the car. She called me about it and asked my opinion. She told me the dealership wanted like $20,000 for it. I said that was a fair price but to not get her hopes up because, IMO, she owed too much on her trade in. I warned her that they may sell her the car but tack on like an extra $3,000 or more because she still owed, I think, $7,000 on her Pathfinder. I was just coming up with numbers but I thought I was at least close! Well, she called me on the way back from the dealership saying she got it and was very excited. I thought to myself "Oh boy, she didn't take my advice and let them jack up the price to pay off her Pathfinder and now she is going to be REALLY in debt." But, when I asked her how much she paid out the door she said $21k and change. I was shocked. I told her "They must have screwed the previous owner of the SS in order to give you a deal like that!" LOL!
Anyway, she is STILL very excited. I'm happy for her and glad to see her with something she really enjoys. I thought the car was a bit much for her income (even at $21k or $22k) and didn't recommend her spending that much, but that's what big brothers are for... to give the reasonable advice
But, since she did anyway (since when do little sisters take big bros advice?!?!) I'm happy for her and glad the dealership gave her a very fair price. The fair price (maybe even better than fair!) was deserved though because she has been royally screwed in the past by dealers when she didn't have a "negotiater" with her if you know what I mean.
Well, I'll now be able to tell my little sis I finally figured out what was going on with the lady in the red "Trans Am".
Talk to you later, Jen!
