manual fan switch problem, please help

i performed the manual fan switch mod, and now the SES light comes on if i put it on the high speed setting. this is what i did i use the cooling fan mod #3 section on brent frankers technical page. i didnt use resistors or leds in my set up is it possible to not use them in the mod and still not have the light show up? anyways i didnt use resistors or LED's and i used the connectors in the upper left side of the engine bay (next to the engine computer module). the light still comes on after i took of the negative cable from the battery for 2 minutes, and i remove the PCM IGN and PCM BAT fuse for 6 minutes. but the light still turns on if i put the setting on high speed. what did i do wrong??? please help this is really giving me a headache!

I don't know what year your Z28 is, but I have a '93 Formula that I installed a fan switch to the negative side of the #1 (I think) fan relay located behind the stock air cleaner box. By grounding out the relay, all I had to do was run the wire back to the center console, to a on/off switch, and then to a good ground. The only drawback is, I can't turn the fan on without turning the key to the "run" position. I have no SES lights. If you need me to I'll check my car for the pinout of the relay I hooked to the switch.
