that number is for American Motorsports. Do you have Paul's number.

Has anyone else gone to Paul Obrien. I'm leaning toward Ken's Performance based on the good experiences from others.

Ken's work is great, I was just talking to him about a hour ago. Fully built, his "hot rod" rebuild, is about $1,250 without a converter. That is the price for you to just drive the car in and him to pull the tranny and everything, it's $185 cheaper if you pull the tranny your self and bring it to him.

just got my Ken's tranny back

Hey guys, because of the input on this board, I drove all the way down(3hrs) to Ken's Performance to have my tranny done.

So far I am very pleased. Dropped the car off at night the Sunday before last, they had it done by last Friday. Plus the tranny builder was out sick Monday and Tuesday.

Funny thing is, I dropped it off AND picked it up after hours, so I never even got to meet any of the guys at the shop. Just talked to Dave on the phone several times, and gave him my credit card account info for payment.

Drove it home without a single problem. I'm going easy on the tranny right now. I'll have to call back and ask for the recommended break-in mileage, and when to do the first fluid change.

I can definitely tell a BIG difference between this one and the old stock one before it started slipping.

Only two things they could have done better(non-tranny related, of course):

-Parked my Z away from the bird droppings (all over the hood and soft top)

-Clear the DTC #15 from ECM memory after they replaced the coolant sensor. I found out about that when my OBD-1 ALDL cable and software came in the mail yesterday. But hey, they only charged $40 to diagnose it and replace the sensor, so I can't complain. Better than having the SES light on with the car running crappy and the hard starts.

Nuc79-
You must have had the white Z in there. I took mine in on Friday before last and had it back Thursday. Would have been ready Tuesday, but like you said the tranny guy was sick. I broke mine in at the track Saturday and went from a best 13.6 to 13.2. I had tem install my converter too.
Unfortunately, Sunday on my way to West Palm something happened. I took it to them Monday and they think a bolt loosened up some and the band is slipping? So the're fixing it for me as soon as I can get it back in there. A little frustrating, but they've been really good about it, they're a good group of guys. The trans felt great before that though, so I'm looking forward to getting it back.

They are really good with that kind of stuff, they actually FULLY REBUILT my tranny for free about a month after I picked it up from having it built the first time. Ken was stumped at how bad my tranny was after only a month, lol...
