Re: hurrcane

I got power back last night and phone line back just an hour ago. Our house was spared any damage, but one of the houses in our neighborhood got a tree through their second story. I feel bad becuase we have power but the street right next to us is still out, they're all chilling in their driveways cooking lunch on their grills Not having power for almost 3 days sucked pretty bad, but we didn't loose to much food. I already have alot of trouble sleeping, and with no AC I barely slept at all the last 2 days. Oh well, at least the power is back. Tuscawilla looks like a war zone though, trees are down everywhere. Doesn't looke like there's too much damage to the houses though. Even the houses with tress on them didn't take much damage, it looks like the trees fell slow enough that they just kinda came to rest on the roof and didn't even hurt anything.

Re: hurricane

WOOOTT just got power back on after 4 days of cold showers, no ac, and no food...

was sitting here reading a book by candlelight and saw the lights on the other side of the apartment complex come on, and than mine came on...we were all excited..

i think it skipped over waterford a bit, power wise, it like hit us, at ucf...skipped waterford, and than hit after it, lol...working up there was hell...no customers, which was expected but we had to work...the power went out, we closed...today was the first day we stayed open all day in 3 days...

had nothing to do, i was soo bored...went and hung out w/ a friend, his power was off, but their house runs off gas so they had stuff to cook food on and hot water, woot....not to mention it was company...

so from what i heard it was a cat 3 that hit us...we got power a week before expected...hopefully they'll get everyone else's power back up, lol..now i have something to do when no one's around, which is a lot of times..lol..

just thought i'd give an update..

Re: hurrcane

I still don't have power at my house, and I live about 5 minutes away from UCF. No damage to the house, but I have a new view out my patio (ALL trees snapped in half) I don't think I'm going to get power any time soon either because I still haven't seen anyone even start clearing out Lake Price Road, where there are at least 5 trees hanging on the power lines along the road. (and I'm in an area that's probably not a big priority, either )
Any word on if classes still begin on Monday at UCF?

Re: hurrcane

UCF has its own power circuit so they NEVER lost power aparently

however, the rec center (you know, that 2 year old multi-million dollar facility) had its roof peeled back and had about 1 inch of water inside. they are not expecting to re-open the rec center for at LEAST a few months

My Front Yard

I didn't finish the side, back yard or neighborhood videos yet. I think I'm gonna board up the house and run like hell next time.

Re: hurrcane

hehe I got power back on saturday, then lost it sunday night around midnight till now.

had bunch of friends over we woke up monday morning no idea what to do, so just started drinking from 10:30am till 1am monday night. Slept hard at a friend of a friend's house in oviedo.

As for the air conditionor that got blown off our roof at the theatre, weighs ~3,000 lbs, and we need a crane to take it off and get a new one.

The letter A got ripped off our sign(funny was worked on to replace the bulbs by a company a few months ago, maybe somoene decided not to put all the bolts back on?)

2 other AC units the all the panels got ripped off and thrown out, but only damage on 2 bolt holes out of the 20 on it, showing that once again, someone decided not ot put all the bolts back on. So open AC vents open to water from the hurricane.

Same problem with a panel on an exhasut vent for one of our projectors.

Leaks are bad... we had 9 big garbage cans up in projection, collecting water must have dumped a good 40 gallons of water after the last big rain storm. In the lobby the poster cases on both sides, look like a waterfall pouring down them(yes over the light fixtures), same with the back rooms behind htose walls, water comes flooding out of the light fixtures, and in the theatres 1, and 20, we have to rope off ~ 40 seats, and close one of the stairways, from water pouring in on the roof and we are worried that the ceiling tiles are gonna fall but we they are in a spot we cannot reach them to bring them down.

And of course a some water damage to drywall.

At one time we had to shut down 6 out of the 20 theatres down.

and of course the mall is being dicks as usual and thinks it looks unsightely to have a crane in the parking lot, so may be awhile before we get our bad AC unit off our roof and get a new one, since we have to do it likely at 3 am, like a dish we had installed.
