i made it through ok in the pine hills area, i lost a few fence panels and just got the power back at 3:30 today. a good friend of mine lives in a trailer park near ucf and he lost his house to a tree. he was the only trailer in the park to have any damage though.

How's it looking in the UCF area, or UCF specifically?

(And High Strung, I didn't know you live in Melbourne )

Re: hurrcane

well i made it through! staayted at my mom's house over here in sanford adn it was not that bad but a few tress went down. when i got home i see one big *** pine tree hanging over my house adn the other two have no limbs left. then the two huge *** oaks , yeah they fell into the neighbors yard taking my a/c unit with it. still with no power( back at my mom's house) and once i do get power i still wont have a/c. my neigborhood had a tornado go through. u can see its path from i-4. between fairbanks and par ave.
i am kinda glad now that my tranny went be cuz if it hadnt my car would be sitttin under part of an oak tree. but i went to the shop yesterday and it is fine. but half of the cars in his yard have a tree or 2 on them. later and cant wait till i have power again.

Re: hurrcane

i just got my power back on sun night at 5pm. my house is totally fine. if you drive through my neighborhood you wouldn't even know a hurricane hit. i went outside around 9pm to play in the storm, it was fun. we didn't lose power until around 10pm that night. i was actually late for work this morning b/c i didn't hear my phone alarm go off and my boss called me 45 min after i was supposed to show up. international drive got it pretty bad, especially by sea world. being w/o power for 2 days sucks! i'm so glad to have it back now.

i drove though waterford yesterday and they got torn up. dan i saw that your car was fine. your roommate was outside cleaning up, but i didn't see you. i'm sure he'll tell you i drove by since he stared at my car going by real slow.

You think its bad up in Orlando? You should come down to Cape Coral / Pine Island by me where it first hit land. It pretty bad down here and I hear its worse in Punta Gorda. It lost a lot of power by the time it got to Orlando. I lost my pool cage, part of my roof, boat lift, and just about every tree in my yard. Hope everyone else makes it out okay as well though. Got power back today thankfully! No AC in summer is death.

Power is out in spots all over the town. Lots of downed trees and lines. Many businesses lost roofs, signs, windows, etc. Some parts don't look too bad, but others look horrible. I lost power here in Ormond Beach around 11pm, and just got it back this afternoon. My parents, who live about 3mi away, still don't have power. I'm glad I don't live in the Punta Gorda area. I can't imagine winds twice as strong as we saw here. Devastating...

Re: hurrcane

hey My part of Orlando got pretty spanked...

1st, my place, luckily my apartment was on the "not facing the wind" side, a few of us were outside since we were getting no wind on our side of the building.

It was sick sky was freaky, saw the shingles, sideing and rain gutters being ripped off my building blowing way out ot the parking lot and bam my alarm go off

Either way, 2 apartments in my building got all the windows blown out, just about every tree, uprooted in my complex, off hand, looked like 8 cars under trees in my complex.

My car I think got hit with roof shingels, since in the DEEP FECKING GOUGES in my door, there was tar on the side of my car too... also got my hood. I assuming at least $300+ for the door, and ~$200 for the hood.

It was crazy though we coudl hear and see the power substations and transformers pop blowing then seeing the see the "glow" in the sky go out from where people had power.

Waterford lakes town center only lost power for ~5-10 min. I went by there around midnight to make sure no obviuos damage, to my building since I am in charge of building maintenance and construction. Lost the 8 foot A on Regal sign, couple of those 60' tall palm trees down and blocking the roads, just about every tree uprooted in the parkinglots, ever steet sigh ripped out of the groung.

As for the theater we had one of our majoy AC units about the size of a small car, blow off and tumble down our roof. Left a 16 foot by 16 foot in our roof. And punctured the roof as it rolled down the roof. me and 4 guys couldn't even lift this thing up to put it right side up. We are going to need a crane. A few of our ac systems lost all of their panels. Our roof is swiis cheese, we opened but we cannot open some theatres leaks are so bad. we have water pouring into the lobby. Yesterday we only opened 15 theatres to the public, today we had 17 theatres. We have been slammed since so many people do not have power. Our phones are jammed and off the hook with calls. Also earlier today we lost power for 3 hours, and had to evacuate ~3,000 people from our building.

I have half assed pathced the roof with plywood, and using old banners as tarps. Still we had a bunch of ceramic tiles shatter, and some our just sticking out of the roof where they punctured in.

I have power but my apartment is a mini-refugee camp for some friends of mine that don't have power. They were told likely they will have power on saturday, today. They live across the street from University Club.

As for UCF, its freaky looking, not sure about buildings but those woods between alafaya and campus are flattened, like trunks snapped in half not so much uprooted, still no power on that side of campus but UCF has power but they have their own power plant.

There were winds clocks @ 120mph, about 5 miles form my place. As for gas stations, damn, few are completely out, and there are lines, 100+ cars long.(glad I filled up before the storm )

Re: hurrcane

Okay here. Just got power back @ 9:00 AM. My only damage to the house was a slat on the fence got hit by a tree limb and popped loose. I pulled the tree off, lined up the nails and punched the board back in place with my fist. The truck has a small ding on the hood from a tree branch. Not noticeable. The Prizm has a pretty big ding on the hood but as luck would have it, it's right in the middle of where it was already damaged by the uninsured woman who hit me in December. The yard took all day Saturday to clean up all the debris in the front and side yard. The back yard was a jungle before. Now it's a complete disaster area. All in all, lucky. Just inconvenienced for the most part. Today's my dad's birthday and we're supposed to be on vacation. I would have already been there but they have no electric at the beach yet.

I hear you man. I'm in NORTH North Fort Myers, and we didn't get horrible damage, since we live in a new home. I feel for anyone who stayed in a mobile ome through it. Not many have roofs, and some got blown away.

We just got our power at 1am today (Monday). I personally got lucky.
