How bad would it be...

I have a 3.23 Posi rear that I want to put in my car. Currently I have an A4 with 3.08 open rear. I'm worried about my shift points, among other things. Hoow bad would my shift points be off. I know I can get the PCM reprogrammed or buy an SCU 2000 and it would correct that. But I'm excited about having a posi disk brake unit on my car and want to put it in without having to wait to save up another 250 or more for the computer.

to be honest, it would only be off by a little. That isn't a huge change. You will however feel the difference since your going to posi.

Speedo will be off, so will shift points. I'm no expert, but I'm thinking speedo off by 1 plus whatever gear you are in. Like 4th gear, 5 miles per hour off.

Shift points will not be noticable.

Here is a question. Sine he had a v6 with 235 55r16's would 245 50 r16 or 255 50 r16 correct the difference?

I am not sure but it shoudl help it.... I have heard people having problems going from 3.08s to 3.42s...you coudl always try it...

but as a warning your odometer will read more miles... I didn't mind it on my 94, since it already was over the hill, but not sure of your thoughts on your car...

did you ever look into the Jet SCU?

I'm not sure a wider tire would correct it, I think make it worse. The 245 50's that i have on the car now are a 0 fit tire, meaning it doesn't adversely effect the speedo.

I have looked into the Jet SCU but again we are talking another 250 bucks before I can get this rear on the car. and with my current traction issues at OSW it's driving me stupid.
