How hard id it to do this. With the limited time I had to find a car, the A4 was all I could come up with. After driving it for a few months now I really miss my manual. I really wanted a M6 when I was looking and now I want one even more. Is this swap clean or is it a better idea just to buy a different car?

If thats the case does anyone want to trade a manual for an auto? Its clean.

The swap itself isn't impossible, but there's a couple PITA things here and there:

--cutting sheet metal over tranny bulge for M6 shifter
--installing new key cylinder in steering column
--dropping auto tranny

I'll be doing this swap myself in about 2 months once I get my engine running and earn some extra $...

 

You dont have to install a new key cylinder in the steering column, and cutting the metal for the shifter isnt that bad at all. Hell I did mine in 15 min with a dremel and cutoff wheel.

 

Does anyone know of a kit that would provide all the little "bits" needed, things like the master cylinder, pedals and lines for the clutch ect.? If not does anyone have a sugestion on using parts from a doner car or buying new? Really seriously thinking I'm going to do this, I hate not having a manual.

 

Check the for sale section, there a kits for sale all the time. They generally run around 1500.00
