taking off rear shocks and the nut keeps spinning

Ok im taking off the rear shocks.
I peeled back the carpet and got to the bolt that holds the top of the shock in.
I put a 15mm deep socket on it and it just kept rotating and the nut did not back out.
Im guessing you have to get a wrench on that nut and hold the top of the bolt so it doesnt rotate with the nut?
If so thats gonna be a pain in the ***.

I always used a pair of vise grips on the shaft if I am going to be replacing them. Kindof caveman like but it works.

Spray some lube on the stud. Once you get it broken loose, the nut will usually spin right off. I think a 1/4 open end wrench will fit the top.
