did i break my knock sensor?

I was trying to take the knock sensor out and it was pretty damn tight but i eventually got it turning. However, not all of it was turning. Looking at the picture from shbox's site below, you can see that there is like a casing around the 22mm hex nut part. Well the sensor never came out, and doesnt tighten back up, that inside part just spins within the casing.

do you think i broke it or does it not really matter? and if i did how the hell am i gonna get that thing off?

They break easy. Just get a new one and call it a day.

Carefully turn the housing with some slip-joint pliers or a pipe wrench.
You can test your sensor to a degree by hooking an LED up to it and tapping it with something metal, the LED should blink.

That guy isnt coming out, at least not with any of the tools i have here. How much do you think a shop would charge to replace it? and before I do that, when i finally get the car started up, how will it let me know if the sensor is dead? will it throw a light?

If the knock sensor is damaged, you will get code DTC 43 and the SES ligth will come on. That will cause the PCM to constantly pull a variable amount of knock retard, based on engine operating conditions.

A quick check would be to pull the harness wire off, and measure the resistance between the single pin on the sensor, and the engine block. Should be about 4,000 ohms.
