986 valve spring question

i installed these springs on to stock heads using the retainers summit recommended using stock keepers. the situation is that the valve sets down in the retainer a good bit, and i know that is going to be unacceptable. i need to figure out how to get the correct amount of valve coming out of the top of the retainer. would different keepers help solve this situation? any help would be appreciated. also, i did not have the head machined, and the springs went on no problem. some people have said that they would need to be machined for clearance purposes. any advice will be greatly appreciated. i have pictures but am in the process of trying to figure out how to post them directly.

Get the keepers to go with the retainers you have.
