new lt1 motor mounts

need new ones as mine have 165 k on them. im planning a 396 pushing about 550 fwhp. just wondering what mounts to go with? the poly mounts from prothane? or solid? ive seen the moroso solid mounts, that reuse the motor mount stands, and the madman mounts, that replace everything. i can remember my dads 69 plymouth satellite with a 383 magnum, when you started it, the whole thing shook at idle, the motor shook the entire car and you could see the body torque from the power of the engine. would solid mounts do this, or just create problems for me? any advantages to solid or poly? thanks guys!

Most go with poly...(drilling out the rivets is required) I use regular stock mounts....(I like a smoother ride) Solid is more for the weekend warrior/racing car...(Unless you like being shakened to death)

I went with the poly from Prothane. Definitely transfers more vibrations to the passenger compartment but not too bad. I figure they will last longer than the OEM rubber. Also, I kept tearing the trans mount so I needed the additional stength.

When I did my 383 build I also switched to polyurethane mounts from Prothane with good results.

i figured most would say poly, but does anybody have the solids? from madman or moroso? any comments from anyone who has those would be appricaited.. would they really be to much for a normal person, are they a track only thing? i just want that feel that the whole car shakes at an idle thanks guys

If you actually decide to go with stock, let me know. I got a set with about 1000 miles on them laying around.

I've never driven an LT1 with solid, but have driven SBC cars and LS1 cars with them. I will be going with them when I need to replace them. Installed a set in my buddies 98. His cam is pretty lopey and always shook the motor pretty well. Can barely feel the car running with solids now.

If you are even slightly worried about vibration, then don't go with the solid mounts. Poly mounts are a good combination between firm and soft and won't wear out. IMO, solid mounts are race-only (others will disagree but that's okay). Prothane mounts are around $50 from Summit.

The kit comes with the instructions and the screws. It is very easy to follow. Autozone stocks these so you don't have to wait for the shipping.
