Evap delete question
Evap delete question
Can i delete the evap solonoid and line under the intake, and just tuck the line from the canister into the fuel line harness and leave it there. Are there any saftey issues with fuel vapor in the engine compartment. As of right now the hose from the solonoid to the intake cracked so i pluged the intake and left the solonoid open, no problems so far. Cleaning up engine compartment. And how often does the evap solonoid purge? Once a day, once a week, temp cycles, several times a day?
The PCM operates the EVAP system frequently during every drive cycle, based on engine operating conditions. A scanner will show you the EVAP solenoid duty cycle. When its "0" its off.... when its some other number, its operating.
If you are worried about fuel vapor in the engine compartment, why not just plug the end of the line from the canister? You may notice an increased fuel smell at the drivers rear fender, since the canister will eventually saturate and no longer strip the hydrocarbon vapor out of the what's venting from the tank.

Logically, you would measure the resistance of the solenoid, and get a resistor that matches it. Practically, it would probably work with anything between 100-2,000 ohms, minimizing the current draw on the circuit.
