Still confused about oil pumps after search

Yes after 2 days of doing searches of differnt boards i`m still confused.
Heres what i got . I just did my bearing clearences and on the mains and rod bearing i`m i ended up at .0025 +- .0003. Its a lt1 stroker and i`m useing the moroso 20182 oil pan 6 Quart Capacity. The pick up that i got with it is the 5/8 one. Yes i will be running a oil cooler. Its mostly a street car and might see about 7,000 rpm. Should i just run the melling m155 with the white spring ? It kinda sounds like it ? A few years ago i used a hv pump on a lt1 stroker and chewed up the oil pump drive gear. But i did like the pressure from it. I would like more pressure then stock.

i wouldnt run the m155 those series pumps have had casting issues. I would run the HV melling select pump I believe it is part# 10550 they pumps that are said to be a stronger casting. But i think they are 3/4 inlet not 5/8

5/8" tube is fine
melling select pump is what you want.
just get the right pump for your sump screen.

rskrause wrote up a nice explaination of oiling in the advanced tech section a few months ago. Does not talk part numbers but you may find it informative.

A HV pump will max out the relief spring pressure at a lower rpm and bypass back to the pan.

See the thread linked to below. With your bearing clearances, you should not be using a HV pump. Also, why do you "like more pressure then stock"? There is a lot of muddied thinking about oil pressure. I think it starts with the true fact that when a motor wears out, the oil pressure drops. Somehow this gets translated into "more oil pressure is good". You see people with worn out motors using heavier oil so the gauge reads higher. Stupid. Thicker oil does not restore clearances, it simply will flow less oil to worn bearings, probably a bad thing and certainly not a good one.

oil pump

I have a melling HV pump in my LT4, and have chewed up 5 oil pump drive gears in 2 years ..
(i change the camshaft and oil pump gear both the last time , and still chewed it up in a few months)

I took the engine out 3 days ago to change the oil pump and do some other things but still dont know which pump to get.
From what i read on this site, the milidon is the good pump to use. but my question is , can you change the pressure spring in the milidon pump or is the stock pressure stock volume a good enough pump ?

Cant i get stock volume but higher pressure? or is that not necessary?

The problem is what is your existing pickup is matched to an oil pump already, to get a proper pan height.(most likley the M155) Like said you want a select pump, but it will require a different pickup than the melling m155. (the select pumps hang lower due to overdriven)

That said your going to have to settle on a pump, then call moroso and find out the right pickup based on this info. I used a 10% overdriven melling select.(10552) This was closest to stock without using a weak pump casting. (using canton pan BTW)

Like mentioned above your going to have check on those bearing clearances with pump also.

The stock Chevy pump has been used in (literally) millions of cars w/o a problem.
