The PCM has nothing to do with the lights, charging system, or dash gauges other than the tach and speedo. It controls the ignition timing and the injection. If you add a carb, you have replaced the injection system. If you add a distributor, you have replaced the ignition timing controls. If you want your speedo to continue to work, you can leave the stock PCM in place and it will continue to work. Or you can buy an interface box to connect the VSS directly to the speedo/odo.
