Best place to buy a compstar rotating assembly

Ok guys I need to know the best place to purcahse a Callies compstar rotating assembly for my new motor. I need it to have the 3.480" stroke with .030" over pistons and 5.700" rods and completely forged. I am looking for the best pricing and would prefer someone with a good reputation for cust. service. Also looking for a place to purchase Ferrea valves and king alecular bearings. Please let me know. not in a huge hurry to purchase so if there are any suggestions such as buying parts seperate I am open to opinions.

is there any particular reason you are deadset on 5.7" rods? most of the Compstar packages I've seen have 6" rods

Ai (Advanced Induction). They are an official Callies/Compstar dealer.

If you have a natural or mild nitrous motor in mind, look into the 6" rod with Mahle piston. The oil rings are not in the piston pin boss area. But you can get mostly any rod/piston combo you want if SRP or Mahle make it. Other pistons can be substitued at additional cost.

This will be an N/A motor. I am not into the forced induction method plus I am not doing an all out power motor. This is just going to be a 355 LT1 that will end up with an 11.2:1 compression. Just a little toy motor lol.

Also I looked on AIs site and they offer the stuff but the pricing is better over at victory racing.

Anyway, check with all those vendors for lowest price. You'll find that most Vendors are the same price. I know one vendor in that list that pays the shipping cost (and I cannot say who.....hint-hint), and so you'll save $50.

I looked at Ai and Vicotry published prices for the Compstar kits and they both look to have very good prices.
Note that Ai just show LT1 kits. (And realize that the 1-piece seal crank kits are around $40 bucks more than 2-piece seal crank kits)

Victory shows the 1-piece rear 383 kit with -16cc Mahle piston for $2096.
Ai shows the same kit for $2096.

But Ai list the -5cc flat top kit for the same price as the -16cc and -26cc piston kit, (I know the -5cc flat top kit is cheaper than the -16/-26cc kit).

That might be a mistake by Ai in the web page. They might probably lower that price to $1990 if you ask.

I noticed Ai has an option to go to the Mahle Pro piston which might be something to look at.

Karl, I didn't know that Compstar made a 3.48 stroke crank with 1pc seal. All that I've seen so far is for the 383 and 396. Did I miss something?

I second going through Karl. I have thrown a little money his way and his customer service is exellent. I bet he could come up with a package deal that could include gaskets, oil pump and anything else you might need for a total rebuild for a VERY reasonable price.

Good luck,
TOM B

You might be right. I could be reading a little too much into their builders catalog. (the speedpack option for 1 Piece seal crank is a simple "add $35.00").

In reality that may mean that if what you want is available in a 1-piece rear crank then add $35.00

The Compstar cranks with 1-piece rear in their catalog are only the 3.75" and 3.875" like you say.

Glad you pointed that out because I was banking of being able to order a 3.500" crank (1-piece rear). Going to call Callies Monday.

Karl

Thanks Tom B. and 69GTO
