Those of you who cut floor for fuel pump, where do you cut?

Those of you who cut floor for fuel pump, where do you cut?
Well im just gonna cut the floor in my 96 ws6 to put my fuel pump in, but how do i know where to cut it? I also need to do my carbon canister, how do i remove that?
