When I disco the brake booster hose the engine kills. How do I get around this?

 

You probably will need a second person to work the throttle to keep the engine going while you pour the Seafoam.

 

Unplug the MAF

 

i just take the cap off the seafoam, disconn. the brake booster hose, put the cap over it upside down, and start the car

 

I just used the TB vaccum hose. I did the gas tank with a full bottle, half in the crankcase, half in the vaccum, and I sprayed the cleaner in the intake. I laced my whole block with smoke. I hope it turns out as advertised. I'll keep posted.

 

what the hell is seafoam?

 

it's a treatment that helps remove carbon build up and other crap thats inside the motor

 

It is a fuel additive that supposedly stabilizes the fuel especially during storage, when I ran a marina we put it in boat fuel for winter lay-up. It is said to clean carb and valves during normal operation. I would never put it in oil system. I would use Marvel Mystery oil, I know it cleans the oil system, especially hydraulic lifters. The seafoam treatment worked great. I expected my oil to be a little darker but it wasn't that bad, I ran my car on a half a can for 150 miles. The car runs smoother and the response has improved a little. I can't really tell about the gas mileage cause I just filled my tank but I have a feeling it has improved as well. I'm going to definitley do a seafoam treatment right before every oil change.
Ouch, 1 Mobil 1 filter (302)= $12, 5 quarts of Mobil 1 (10w30)= $30, 2 cans of seafoam= $12. Total price $54 at least. I already bought the throttle body cleaner and it should last at least 5 treatments. Has anyone not gotten the white smoke outa the tailpipe after a vaccum treatment?

 

I didn't get a big smoke show from the tailpipes and the engine oil wasn't filthy black either. Either my engine was pretty clean or maybe the previous owner did a Seafoam treatment.

 

Ditto here. Some smoke - but not extreme like I have seen. Initially I also said, hmm - engine must be pretty clean.
But I did later read debates (here?) about whether the smoke actually is carbon burning off.
