Removed oil cooler - what closes the lines?

My old motor had an oil cooler on it but it was damaged when the motor was removed. If you were to have a car without an oil cooler, what happens to the connections on the water pump and radiator? I capped them off, but it constantly cracks the caps. If there is a hse in it's place with a restrictor or anything, please let me know.

It is number 16 in the pic. It goes from the water pump to the radiator. It says the part number is 10197675. http://shbox.com/1/93-94_hoses.jpg

I just cut the two hoses to the oil cooler and then connected them with a barb fitting and hose clamps. Works like a charm.

Simple rubber hose from the parts house for less than $10.00 or so. Make sure it fits the larder diameter water pump fitting and then cut the smaller end to the correct length. Piece of cake.

I went down to NAPA at lunch and got the hose for it. Anybody else have trouble with the OEM oil cooler leaking from the Oil filter base? Mine was and in the the process of replacing it I set the motor down on the new one and then said screw it. Hopefully this will not affect the car to much.

If anything, it might help the motor out a little bit. When I did the Oil Cooler delete, I noticed higher oil pressure right away. From my understanding the oil cooler is only necessary if you are into Autocross or something similar. At that point, an aftermarket cooler should be used anyways.
