A new round of "Stump the Z28 Owner"
A new round of "Stump the Z28 Owner"
Well crap. I seem to encounter all the obscure issues with my cars. God love them... anyway... This is related to my '94 Z28 383 A4. Cut to last Sunday night (4/15/2007).. I drove the car to the store and back. Ran perfectly. No problem, no hint of a problem. Then on Monday, I get in the car to start it. I crank it and crank it but it never hit's even once. Puzzled, I went into 'Clear flood' mode and tried that. Didn't hit then either, ... UNTIL I turned the key off! ???WTH??. I tried to crank it again. Nothing. But about every third time, it would 'diesel' a few times after I turned the key off. I got out of the car and the smell of gas was strong. The fuel pump was priming every time I cycled the key so the fuel pump is working. I then got out my multimeter and, using Shoebox's Opti verification routine, I verified that the ICM's pins "A" and "D" had 12 volt, that pin "C" was grounded and pin "B" had a fluctuating A/C reading during cranking. I then put a spark tester on cylinder #3's plug wire, turned the key on, then cranked the car with my remote starter. Dang it. It's got spark.... Next, I'm going to pull some plugs out and see if they're merely wet fouled. While I'm cooking dinner, I thought I'd post to you guys and see if any of this sounds familiar.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Well.. finished dinner <burp!> and went out and pulled all the easy <drivers side> plugs. Sho - nuff... wet fouled. I replaced just those four (it's getting dark here) and tried to fire it up. Vrooom!... Thanks anyway guys.

Definitely. I replaced the remainging four yesterday. I was just trying to verify the cause of the issue in short order w/o spending too much time on that test only to find that wet fouling wasn't the problem.
