what do you guys think of Scat?

I blew my motor last week and i'm in the process of building a new one. I plan on turboing it so i'm building for boost.

Havn't worked out all the details yet, but a friend told me SCAT made real good reliable parts. What do you guys think? Any one have experience with scat.

First time building an engine so i'm not sure about all the brands and **** like that. Its gunna be a all forged 355.. so far i got the following:

Scat Crank - forged 4-350-3480-5700-L

Pistons - JE -28 dish 532-170817

Piston rings - JE 532-J100F8-40305

Rods - SCAT forged 3ICR5700

From what i've been reading, -28 dished pistons should put me around 9.0:1 compression, depending on which heads i decide to go with.
Of course i'm gunna need other stuff like bearings, arp studs, oil pumps ect. Let me know what you think

I would say scat is fine. In fact last time I was at Ed Wrights shop getting a friends car tuned, I asked Ed what rotating assembly he had in his TA...he said crank and rods were SCAT...this is a 9 second car all motor mind you....

Buddies run all scat bottom ends in their small and big blocks, no problems yet, and that 454 in Matt's 69 Chevelle gets the ***** beat off it. I'll be going Scat on my rebuild soon.

Chekc the rings, and make sure they are good for blowers/boost. But also check if they are low tension or regular tension.
I am not an engine builder at all, but my engine has JE psitons and rings and they are low tension, and I use oil about a quart every thousand miles, which is more than I would like and the oil gets black real quick. Plugs are clean and I have no cats, but I should have gotten regular tension rings for oil consumption concerns. Just my 2cents

There's plenty of videos about scat online, but you have to turn off your search filter for some reason or they probably won't show up.

If buying a crank anyway I would consider a stroker.
Also when looking at all forged do yourself a favor and look at the Compstar SpeedPacks.
Compstar is Callies "budget" line, I have no problem with Scat and believe the parts you picked will hold but I also think for a similar price you could get the Compstar crank and rods and Mahle pistons(standard in this package) and have a better assembly for less money. Keep in mind the Speedpacks are COMPLETE balanced rotating assemblies bearings and all. You piece together parts and bring them to a local shop it will cost you at least $160 for balancing possibly much more.
