about 2 years ago my 93 Z28 started sputtering some at high RPMs, about 4000 and above. I took apart the optispark and cleaned it up good and put it back on because Im a cheap @ss and didnt want to buy a new one at the time. Car ran fine up until now. Sputtering above 4000. I'm guessing it's the same problem as before? Anyone have any other possible causes of this? If it is the opti, is the extra money worth it for an aftermarket one or should I stick w/ OEM?

 

Sputtering? Yes, that could very likley be the optispark.... however first see if you can pull a trouble code.

For less that $240.00, install a new GM optispark, the cap and rotor wear the same as aftermarket units.
