New times with BRE cam for all the haters
New times with BRE cam for all the haters
Ok, lets try this again
First off, the weather was 65-70, nothing special. My car is a 97 Z28, full power everything, the only weight reduction is !sprare/jack, and !backseats. I'm running 17x9 and 17x11 ZR1's, so this is by no means a drag car, 100% stuck suspension. As for the heads, they were on the car when I bought it, and I'm starting to think they are pretty damn good. As for the cam, Bret said its between an LE1, and LE2, but I know a few people with LE2-3 cars and judging by their cam specs I think my cam is pretty close to an LE1 cam, but Bret can better answer this. And now for the timeslips. I'm #25 And my previous best with my old gm846 cam was 12.41@114mph so I gained 4mph with the new cam.

the 12.1 run was shifting at 5800, and the 118.3mph run was shifting at 6250-6300.

Was there a thread like this yesterday? I coulda swore there was.
Anyways, that is pretty impressive 4mph or about 40 horse out of just swaping the cam which I think is probably just a tad bit bigger than your old GM846. Right?
Plus your shifting conservatively, not blowing it out to 6600-6700 to try and get a peak trap or something. Yet another LE/BRE Heads/Cam car seaking 11's and trapping in the high teens.
Well done sir, and props to the Heads and Cam fella's too.

You have a PM. I suggest that you read it.
Easy now,
Car run good, its all about what the owner wants. A car setup for the track will run good at the track, but a car not setup will run better on the street (DD). A lot of guys up here in A-town have there cars setup for the street since we dont have a track. The guy thats on top is going to have a tough time when the track reopen's. Its all about the 60' at the track, on the street, its who has the mph..
Good luck with the car man

well when you have no clue as to who ported the heads, what they flow or any info on the heads, what so ever. almost anything you put in is a crap shoot, you (or bret) takes a guess and hopes for the best. i like the fact you have ported heads, ported intake, CAI, headers with spare tire removed along with the jack, no back seats, true duals and a custom tune. all of this done and you still run in the 12's. next he'll post he's building it for a road course and not the 1/4. yet he keeps going to the 1/4 mile for numbers to post. i also told him about the title, how it was asking for people to bash him. then when i posted a video of a friend of mine that was running 12.2 @113 with only cam, cai, ktre 12 bolt with 4:10's (edit also headers). everthing else was factory , weight and all and made the point this wasa done in 1997/1998 in the midde of summer with high heat and humidty, he called me nut hugger, lol its just sad.
