How to get the tune to my PCM?

Hello everybody!
I´m a newbie on this forum and with fuel injected V8´s...
So I was wondering that what gizmos do I need to get my PCM tuned for the mods I currently have? Is it hard to load a program? How does it work??? I understand that it´ll help a lot especially with that reargear change I´m going to make soon, I suppose I have to change the shiftpoints because I´m going from 2.73 to 3.42...

There is a separate section for computer questions. You might want to browse around there some:

The short answer is that you need to buy a cable and either Tunercat or LT1edit.

Doing basic stuff like changing the gear ratio and shift points is pretty easy.

Tuning the engine is a little more involved.

If you're paying for a tune, then talk to the person you're getting it from about your options.

From another thread going on, it looks like at least one of them may provide you with a trial version of tunercat for installing the tune.

Or you could just buy a spare PCM from the tuner and have them send it to you with your custom tune already installed. Cost of a used PCM is about the same as the cost of a cable and software.

You can also just send in your PCM, but given your location I'm assuming that might not be a viable option.
