Ignition fuse blew 5 times today, help!

My ignition fuse (#11) blew 5 times on the way home from work today. Finally just so I didn't have to tow it home a put a 40 amp fuse in it and got home. (I know this can damage wiring). The car would run 5 or 10 minutes and then die. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

BTW I did drive the car in rain yesterday for the first time in a year or so. Usually only dry driving...

Thanks

Look in your Owner's Manual, and see what devices are on that fuse. Start working your way trough the list.

Yes, I removed the pump and they are hanging in there I'm sure, why?

Also I will check the wires on the passenger side next to the header, and the wiring under the fuse box. Anything else I should look for?

Thanks!

That would be my guess. One of them melted to the header and caused the car to pop that fuse.

I'm not trying to knock you. But a word of caution to everyone bypassing a fuse. I've done it, you've done, we've all done done it to make it home, but none-the-less.

TRUE STORY: My father-in-law nearly burned downed his tractor this summer. He kept blowing fuses, and put in a larger fuse when he ran out of the correct size so he could finish that last bit of hay he had to roll. After awhile flames started rolling up the back of the cab. Luckily, he was at the barn and not in the field when it happened and was able to turn the hose it.

After his scare, I won't be use a bigger fuse than the rating anymore.

Just thought I'd share.

Mine was popping the ignition fuse in the engine bay this summer. Changed out the ICM and all is good. I did get towed home a couple times trying to figure it out though. I studied the schematics thoroughly, and more often than not things pointed to the ICM. It was sort of a guess but it worked.

my car is doing the same thing, the other day, about 3days ago, it stalled and died and wouldn't start. I towed it home and it was the ignition fuse.I replaced it and it worked til tonight.
Then tonight I went to my dads house and as I pulled up it died, I replaced the fuse and it idled for like 10min. in the driveway, then I went to drive home and it died like 7 or 8 blocks away. replaced fuse and it turned on then died, replaced it 2 more times and it would just barely turn on and die. called my dad and went to go get a tow strap, when we came back I put another fuse in and it started then I took off and didn't even make it down the block-towed car home and there it sits.
I have the AIR disconnected and tie strapped to the fuse box wiring and nothing is hitting my headers.

Mine had those EXACT same symptoms. I got towed home twice in one day. Try the ICM.
