Don't believe everything you read on the internet. The forces loaded from the bottom of the car when jacking it, are not even close to the forces applied while driving. A 1" tubular bar may bend under a horizontal force of 200 lbs, but turn the bar to a compressive load and now can possibly withstand 3000 lbs of load.

All the mounts for the K-member are toward the outside of the piece where the A-arms mount. The only thing the center portion does is hold the engine basically.

Im 100 % with Roy on this one , nobody will touch a Bmr k member for road racing because it looks like it will fold in two . LGM has one coming out thats porpose built to be used hard .

Great drag piece though

Actually you guys need to go back to your engineering classes

The bar across the bottom has one purpose and one purpose only...and protecting the pan is not it Neither is it a jacking point.

I have been sceptical for years about them but if you look into it ALL the loads are at the mounting points save for the Steering rack. THE BMR has the best built in features and if you feel it is not strong enough you can add bars at any time.

It is up to you guys and I under stand but you can ask anyone who knows me I do not like the Idea of any of them but they are becoming a neccasary Evil for weight reduction.

Here is the BMR with built in engine mounts

I could not find the LG part. I CAN tell you I have seen the LG Lower A arms bend under racing conditions

Good luck and choose as you may

Without looking at it I can't offer my Engineering experties , but from what I can remember there didn't seem to be any consentrated stress areas that would be dirrectly effecting any of the mounting points on the K-member, correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I can remember from seeing it on Mike's LS1.

I guess weight reduction and access to the motor are the only two benefits.

I'm not a serious racer though.

I wonder if the $1000 is worth it?

I would keep my money as I did, I was going to go with it but the amount of driving I'm doing I don't want my motor looking like it got dragged on pavement.

I guess I should have clarified. In reference to the link above, the guy stated that the BMR unit would eventually break. I seriously doubt that it will break under normal suspension movement. Now jacking up the car at the point mentioned may take it's toll on the welds if it in fact is bending as much as he said, but then again, I don't believe everything I read.

Being very low and getting 12 inches of air at 72nd and 152nd contributed to that.

Way to go Bo Duke
