I think I might be in need of a bigger cam to help take advantage of my ported heads...

I was thinking about trying this new 233/239 that XE started to make. What do you guys think?

I currently have the xe 224/230 and only ran 109.27 mph at the track (12.98, had a bad clutch though)

 

Has this combination been tuned on a dyno?

 

I have a fairly good tune in it right now... I have played with the tuning and I dont think its the problem. It had been scanned, etc.

 

I'm talking about wideband A/F ratio monitoring on a dyno....you playing around with the program is not the same thing!

 

Whats the lift on the cam you have right now?

 

i had it dynoed, and they did not hook up a wideband, it produced 308.3 rwhp @ 5500 rpm, 299.1 rwtq @ 5250 rpm. The torque dropped pretty hard after 5400, but it had an extremely strait torque curve. This was done on a mustang dyno btw.

 

Comp Cams 224XL Camshaft 224/230 duration @ .050", 536"/.544" lift with 1.6 rockers.

 

Were the flow numbers verified? False flow numbers are a sure cause for low dyno numbers...

With no tuning though very low numbers are possible...get it tuned!

 

I've seen cars with alot of work done pick up near 100 horsepower over a stock tune.... enough said.

 

Should I just buy my own wideband and rent a dyno?

 

I don't know how many times I've told him to have it dyno tuned He likes to throw money at parts rather than solutions lol

Can't afford a dyno tune but he can afford to replace the cam, AGAIN!

 

Detroit speedworks wants $600 for a dynotune, im not paying that much!

 

ok, so go buy a $250 cam, $150 in gaskets, a $400 wideband o2 sensor and do it yourself makes much more fiscal sense
