problem with site policy

Furthermore, we are free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained in any communication you send to the Web Site for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to developing, manufacturing and marketing products using such information.
Why bother even having this line in there when it wouldn't be upheld in court?

Hehheh...I didn't think anyone actually read that.

First of all, that is pretty old. I may have copied from some free legal info site several years ago, I don't remember honestly. I think it was back in 1996 or so.

Second of all, how do you know that it won't hold up in court? Just curious, we don't really think we'd have to worry about it, we don't normally get into situations like that. Like I said, it was probably taken from some generic site policy a long time ago.

Third, why does it concern you enough to post about it? Again, just curious.
