I have two idea's and thought I'd share:

1. Idea for a new forum: Computer Help & Support. We have quite a few people who have issues with computer problems, or "How To's", and just thought we could create a Computer forum for those questions.

Right now, people just post them in the General area, but it may be helpfull to have the questions in their own place, so they don't get pushed down with threads like "What should I eat for Dinner" or "What's your MySpace".

It would help people with Routers, Software, Spyware, Games, etc., not just Windows questions.


2. My other suggestion: When you click on the Search link at the top, could it search the forum that you are currently in? There really isn't that much difference between that and the Advanced search, as by default they both search ALL forums. Just a suggestion....

I like both ideas. If you want the basic search to search all forums, you could just go to the forum list page and search from there. Once you're on the forums, the list page is never more than a single click away...

 

That is what the Lounge is for, actually...just general "while you are here" topics. We prefer not to make yet another off-topic forum. If we did, then we would have to make a forum for music, one for movies, one for relationships, etc. There are MUCH better sites for all of those things.

Go into the forum you want to search. Use the pulldown in the upper right corner that says "Search this Forum".

 

I understand your point, and how other users might want to break it down further with Music, Movies, etc. However, I just thought that since everyone uses a computer to access this site, that it would be helpful for people with issues.

But, I can see what you mean.



Wow. I have never seen that until you pointed that out. I guess mainly it's not until I'm in a post that I have a question/issue that I want to search on. Since it's not listed in threads, only the main section, I've never noticed it. Thanks for pointing that out!
