wet floor

Ok a few days ago my buddy(1998 Z28) noticed he had some rust comeing through the carpet under the drives floor mat. There was a wet spot we couldnt figure out where its coming from. Today I was cleaning my car and noticed I have the samething on my 95. Is this common and what can I do. It seems like its coming up through the floor because I cant find where its would be coming from on the inside.

There are drain plugs all over the floorpan, if one came out and the undercarriage got soaked I guess it could come through the carpet that far... more likely there's a leak somewhere and it's draining down to the lowest point. That leak could be anywhere unfortunately

Its happening on 2 camaros that sounds weird is this common. Why would there be a leak in the same place on 2 different cars. Ill check the drain plug should I take it out to drain it or put it in if its out.

I used to get water behind the driver's seat in my old V6 Camaro, turned out it was coming through the grommet for the courtesy light and leaking down the C-pillar. If the carpet is wet the best thing you can do is pull up that section of carpet, dry the whole area, and replace the padding underneath. It's unbelieveable how much water that stuff retains. It's a lot of work, but leaving the whole area wet like that is just asking for a rusty floorpan.
