Washing and front end covers

Just a quick question. I put a LaBra cover on my '95 to hide the love bug scars. I was reading the instructions that came with it and it says to take it off when I wash the car. Do I have to take it off every time I wash it. I keep it in the garage when I am not driving it and I try to hand wash it weekly... I waxed under it very well before I put it on..

Thanks,

ian

Yes, has to come off, water will run under it and if you leave it on it will cloud the paint with the water under it.

Yeah i would take it off. I put mine on about a year ago and i never took it off when i washed. Now there is some spots in the paint that are cloudy and white, so it looks like the front end cover is staying on forever, or i'll have to get it repainted. Either way, take your cover off when you wash.

I undo the ends of it and wash under there everytime i wash my car, usually at least once a week. 3 or 4 times a year i take it off completly and wash polish and wax under it. The key to keeping the paint nice underneth the cover, is the steps above and more importantly proper fitting over the cover when its new. I wount follow the instructions that came with it, to sit it out in the sun to let it strecth. I used a warm iron and wet towel to get the fit exactly how it should be. This way almost no tightening is needed over time.

Bras can scratch your paint pretty good if you leave them on all the time and let dirt get under them.

Most of the time people put car bras on is because the front of their car is messed up. Like mine, theres rock dings everywhere, at least 100 small chips in the paint. Instead of getting it repainted, i just got a car bra for my car. Im never taking the bra off ever agian so it doesn't matter to much to me if the paint gets scratched up or not.

Well if its that far gone, dont even bother cleaning under it. I have had mine and keep the underside clean and rock free and have not had a problem.
