Turtle wax polishing compound or 3M rubbing compound?
I have some spots on my car where there were chips and it looks like the previous owner used emory cloth or something to try to blend it in. Which one of the compounds in my subject would work better? The 3M stuff said it would remove scratches up to 1500 grit. Any ideas or experience welcome!

Rubbing compound if rougher than polishing compound, so you might want to use the polishing first and see if it helps, if you have to use the rubbing you will probably have to step down to the polishing next as rubbing compound dulls paint.

I've had good luck with 3M Rubbing Compound-Fine Cut on another car. It leaves a fine finish but it's best to follow that with a swirl mark remover to remove the light marring a rubbing compond leaves. Personally, I'd stay away from the TW rubbing or polishing compounds.

I would go with the 3M rubbing compound.I work at bodyshop and that is what we use.Like mention above need to use some polish afterwards to get the swirl marks out from the compound and to shine it up real nice.
