Some questions about Zaino

For starters.. I love the product so far, it keeps the surface very, very clean and free of dust! But what I wanted to know is just application questions.

1) When I'm applying it, should it be almost invisible? Or should it have a slight haze to it? I just don't know if I'm using to much or too little.

2) This kind of relates to question 1. I have a 96 SS (to give you an idea of the size) and I'm using only one ounce of Z5 to do the entire car, is that sufficient?

Thanks - Trevor

Trevor, you maybe using a little too much product to do your car, I can do my Vette 3 times with one oz, and my M5 2 times with one oz. You should only see a very slight haze from Zaino, it will not haze like carnauba.

I'm with Carl here.

First, yes, it should be almost invisible on the surface. If you try to apply it like a traditional wax and goop it on heavy, you'll waste product and cause it to take longer to dry. Zaino will not dry/haze white like many waxes, but there should be a kinda clear cloudy haze to remove.

One ounce for one coat is just a tad to thick, but that's not bad really. Like Carl, getting around two coats per ounce is being more efficient with the product. Of course, the thicker it is applied the more haze you will see. So, for very light coats it will almost appear invisible, especially on lighter colors.

Thanks for the replies... so I'll try to use about 1/2 ounce to do my entire car... if thats the case. How much do you put on the applicator and how big of an area do you apply that too? I've been doing a dime size per about every 2-3 feet sqaure, and thats been hazing so I'm assuming thats way to thick.

I apply it by using an "X" inside of a square (think a strike in bowling) on the pad and wiping back and forth (front to back). I barely put any on the pad and I can do the entire hood, A-pillars and one 1/4 panel with that. Then I can do the doors (sedan) on 1 side and the truck lid. Then the entire other side. Then the top and back and front. I swear sometimes I think I didn't put any on, but I'll be damned it IS on there.

I also very, very lighty dampen the applicator using a tad of the spray before starting which makes it go on very easily. I probably use about 1/4 ounce to do my wifes GTP. You may think you didn't even put any on, but wait a 1/2 hour in the Phoenix heat and you can see a very, very, very slight light haze. Total time to get on and wipe off (not including dry time) is about 20-25 minutes. I use it on a silver car which makes it even harder to see the "haze", I think.

I also dampen my applicator with just a LITTLE Z6. I have been using the same Zaino kit for a year now, and still have plenty left. It takes VERY LITTLE to get the job done!
