So here's what I bought...
6 inch powered buffer
NXT wax
Maguires Polish
Maguires Paint Cleaner
Maguires Clay bar
wash mit
polishing cloths
wheel/tire cleaner
fuel injector cleaner (unrelated to detailing)
I think I got everything, so I start with the wash, then clay bar it, then use the polish, then the wax according to maguires...does that sound right to everyone? How many coats should I give it?

Good choice. Wash, clay if needed, paint buff cleaner (important), polish (good, but you can skip it if you're pressed for time), finish with 2 coats of pure wax (most important, make sure its pure wax, not a cleaner wax. If its a cleaner-wax, take it back and get a pure wax).
Get going! Do not re-clean after the wax (unless somehow you get more contaminants. If that happens you should clay again). You shouldn't get more particles though if you are on top of your detailing routine. Just compound your efforts with wax layers until you are satisfied with the result.
Finally, wax season is here!

I bought NXT wax, two layers should be good you think? I called maguires they said 1 was fine, but I'm game for 2 or three if thats better, I assume you apply a layer wipe it down and then apply the next layer right?

Yup 2 layers is good as a start. Buff wipe your first layer, then add the second. Follow their directions as to whether you will need to buff it again a few hours later.
Build your wax finish slowly over a season, and you will go like this
Good luck.
