Does anyone on how to clean rust of polished wheels? I have silver ZR1's w/ a polished lip. The lip is all rust but the painted part is fine. This happened after driving the car in the snow w/ salt and sand on the road. Any help would be great. Thanks!!

 

Probably just brake dust or dirt. Alloy wheels can't rust. Buy some good wheel acid or cleaner at the store and that should work.

rust is from the iron content in metals. wheels are made of aluminum alloys. if there is no iron, there can be no rust.

 

you can use a clay bar on aluminum alloy wheels? i never thought of that. however, what wax or sealant do you use after polishing them? they will start to oxidize after polishing, or at least my aluminum alloy wheels did.
