rough costs for a repaint versus a color change

I'm in the process of converting my PGM 96 over to the 98+ front end. I have some dings in the rear quarters so paint wise I'm wondering by the time all the blending is done, the whole car would probably need to get painted anyway.

If I go with a repaint, what's reasonable? 2k - ish? less/more?

If I decide to get crazy and go some different color, does that just get crazy? I'm not talking show car, just so you can't tell it was green, but something that had good quality like OEM. Is that a 4k and up entry price?

For a quality job in my area, a repaint will run $2500-$3500 and a color change will run $3500-$5000.

a color change will need the inside of the doors, underhood, under carpeting, plastic, etc. There is a lot to paint witha color change.

I know all this, that's why I'm asking the question. In terms of cash, what is a lot, have you had yours done? If so what did you pay?

That's the kind of information I'm trying to get so that I can get a feel for what others have done before I go out and try it for myself. Hope that helps to clarify

I am interested in this question also because my car right now is white and I am looking to make it black. So it's not like it won't be noticeable if they skip over a few spots haha

I dont know how true this is because ive never owned and sold a newer car but i was told that if you change the color of the car it will lower its value for resale. not sure if youre gonna keep this car for awhile or whatever. the exception is on older cars (i think 7 or 8 years old) it wont reduce the value. this is just what i heard and for all i know it could just be a wife's tale.

I've already had it for 10 years, it's not going anywhere. Any resale thoughts went out the window when I started modifying it. Plus it's my fun car, it's not my daily driver anymore.
