remove wax/sap?

There is a solvent actually called bug and tar remover, I know auto zone carries it. Google "bug and tar remover" and you'll find it

Re: remove wax/sap?

A clay bar might get it. Dawn dish washing liquid and a mesh type sponge might help.

Tree sap: Ice it down and peel it off with your nail. Got to get it really cold though. Not a problem HERE right now...

I've heard Goof-Off or Purell Hand Sanitizer.

Re: remove wax/sap?

The clay bar should do it .... be careful with the rubbing compound !!!!!!!!!! look at what size
the grit is in the rubbing compound ... try it out in a small spot to make sure it does not eat the paint off I would try several things before I would use a rubbing compound !!!
There is a big difference between rubbing compound and a polishing compound

Re: remove wax/sap?

Had this same problem while parking my daily truck under pine trees at work ..covered in this goo ..I used denatured alcohol it removed it pretty well and I used wd40 as well it didn't seem to have any effect on the paint . Might try that in a small spot to test .

Re: remove wax/sap?

I have used alcohol and it worked on black with clear coat no bad effects or dulling and have used clay bar on small pin head type sap spots from Black Walnut trees if baked on. Other wise a lot of regular tree saps come off with just water/Except PINE SAP. But I would try the Alcohol before I would use rubbing compound as long as you have clear coat on top. GOOD LUCK.
