reconditioning weatherstripping

is petroleum jelly good to recondition weatherstripping around the doors.

Dielectric grease is preferred and even mentioned in a GM TSB related to the weatherstripping. Surprisingly enough Pine Sol works very well also, as is puffs the weatherstripping up and will allow it to reseal in most cases. If yours is to the point of dry rotting, then you have no choice to replace it.
