re-blacking a vert top?

re-blacking a vert top?

my top is fading where on of the support bars is. I was wondering if there is an easy way to make this look nice agin. I was tihnking some sort of shoe product might do the trick.

shoe polish would make a bad mess. I would think dye would be a better choice.
