I used to work as a car detailer, so the longest I have spent detailing a car would have been 2 and a half days, at 9 hours a day. (so about 22 hours)

My own car? Well, when I wax it, it normally takes me about 3 hours for the wash, chamois, wax etc.. add another hour if I clay

Cool

Hey, all car guys are a little crazy, or we wouldn't be car guys!

A typical wash takes me about 2 or 3 hours from start to finish. Heck, I spend an hour just about on the wheels alone! I don't focus on the time spent so much as the level of detail. I have been known to spend all day and late night in the garage waxing/polishing and general cleaning on the weekends. So, to everyone else it's obsession and craziness, but to me it's just the "norm." It's all worth it though in the end to take pride in the work done, and the stares and comments. I guess most people don't understand or care. You either have the passion or you don't. We're all "normal" here though, so don't feel guilty about speding "quality time" with the car!
