my friends keep telling me i am going to "wax" the paint off my car because i do polish/wax frequently (once every week or two), but i use NON-abrasive products. I have been doing this same schedule of waxing for five years, and it isnt showing any sign of "coming off" besides where some guy backed into my car. Any input? this the stock paint

 

Using quality, nonabrasive products by hand is completely safe. You could wax every day with this type of product and the finish would only look all the better. There's really no danger in over waxing by hand. Other products like abrasives or cleaner waxes I wouldn't use often (or at all) on a good finish, unless absolutely necessary.

Just make certain you are using truly nonabrasive products! I think we've all been told a few times we'll either wash or wax the paint off, I know I have as well.

Using buffers incorrectly, abrasives, cleaners etc on a regular basis could be another story...

Make sure it is pure wax only. Which is hard to find these days. Even too many coats of a wax like mothers carnubba can dull the finish as it builds up.
